Rules to Follow While Attending DFCS Training


  • Anyone who comes to the Gwinnett University Center campus to take a class or any type of training, even if only for one day, is considered a "Student" unless they are a faculty or staff member. Therefore, all students must park in the lots marked "Students" and adhere to all campus parking regulations, which apply to students. "Visitor" parking is 15-minute parking only.


  • Each student and trainer is issued a temporary parking pass on the first day of training, which is to be placed on the dashboard of the car.


  • The manufacture, distribution, possession, or use of alcoholic beverages, marijuana, controlled substances, in any quantity, on campus is prohibited.


  • Please be conscious and considerate at all times of other classes being held within the buildings, and keep noise to a reasonable level.


  • Public telephones are located in each of the buildings. Please use these, rather than asking to use the office phones.


  • Mocha Delites food vendor is located on the GUC campus. They are available to provide catering service, but do not have exclusive rights to all catering on campus. Please see me for a list of additional caterers available to serve GUC.


  • Food and drinks are allowed inside the buildings, however, we ask that you use your best judgement. Please avoid littering, and be considerate of others by picking up after yourself. If there is an accident, contact Martha Sosebee, who will call the maintenance staff.


  • Computers are available for students to use in the Open Computer Lab, located in building A, and also in the lobby of the A building.


  • There are coin operated copy machines available in the bookstore and library.


  • Your classroom will be set up according to a pre-arranged diagram. If you will need a different set-up or equipment, fill out a Request for Services form and send it to Martha Sosebee’s attention. My fax number is 678-407-5014.


  • There are no postal drop boxes located on the GUC campus. The closest U.S. Post Office is located on GA 20 in downtown Lawrenceville.


Traffic & Parking Regulations

PARKING ON CAMPUS

All vehicles must be registered on this campus. Student and Faculty/Staff decals and permits may be obtained in the Security Office, Room 1066. There is no additional charge for decals/permits. Temporary permits are necessary for special classes, seminars, and conferences.

TRAFFIC & PARKING VIOLATIONS

These regulations are designed to make parking and traffic at the Gwinnett University Center as convenient and safe as possible. Regulations apply to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Students are permitted to park in designated "Student Parking" areas only. Absolutely no student parking in "Visitor" spaces. All parking regulations are enforced 24 hours a day.

The following parking or traffic violations may result in a citation, towing of the vehicle or other action:

  • Parking in a posted restricted/reserved space, such as a handicap space, reserved space, no parking space or a visitor space.


  • Parking illegally, such as parking on a curb, the lawn, walkway, blocking a driveway or wheelchair ramp or occupying more than one space.


  • Vehicle registration violation, such as not displaying a current decal or temporary permit.


  • Failure to comply with traffic control devices, such as exceeding the campus speed limit of 15 miles per hour.


  • Extended parking in 15 minute parking zones.


FINES FOR PARKING OR TRAFFIC CITATION VIOLATIONS

There is a $15 fine for each violation on each Traffic/Parking Citation. On the fourth and any subsequent citation, the vehicle may be impounded at the owner's expense. Payment of fines must be received in the Security Office, Room 1066, during regular business hours within seven days of the date of the citation. A wheel boot may be applied to the vehicle until fines are paid. Student grades, future registration, records, and registration, diplomas will be held until all fines are paid. All traffic and parking citations can be appealed within seven days of the date of violation.

TOWING

The Gwinnett University Center reserves the right to impound any vehicle parked in a manner dangerous to vehicular or pedestrian traffic or otherwise in violation of traffic/parking regulations. The owner is responsible for all costs involved in removing, impounding, and storing such vehicles. If time permits, an effort will be made to identify and contact the owner of the vehicle before impounding. This is accomplished by searching vehicle registration information.

VEHICLE ASSISTANCE

Gwinnett University Center Security will respond to a request for assistance with a privately Owned vehicle. The driver/owner of he vehicle must sign a Request for Service Waiver before any hands on assistance will be given in the form of jump starting or unlocking a vehicle.

LOST & FOUND

A lost and found depository is maintained in Room 1001. Call 678-407-5004 for assistance.

Escorts to vehicles may be requested in the Security Office, Room 1066. Please call the Security Office at 678-407-5000 for assistance.
