If an adult is temporarily
absent from the home because of treatment, training, or employment or the child
is temporarily absent from the home because of treatment or training, the
individual
may be included in the AU if certain conditions are met. The list
below details these conditions.
Include the adult in the AU when all
of the following conditions are met:

the absence is temporary with a plan for treatment or training to return the
adult to the home
-
the adult continues to exercise care and control
of the AU children
-
the adult wants to be included in the AU during
the absence
Include the child in the AU when all
of the following conditions are met:

the absence is temporary with a plan for treatment or training to return the
child to the home
-
the dependent child continues to be under
the care and control of the caretaker relative
-
the caretaker or other eligible adult wants
the child to be included in the AU
Exclude the adult or child from the AU if
any
of the following conditions exists:
-
adult is incarcerated
- child is incarcerated, including placement in a detention
facility
- the child or the adult is in a public institution
- the child is placed in
a private residential childcare
institution
